Vinyl Pop Holidays Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer
Santa Claus
3 3/4 Inch Scale
By: Funko

Just the other day we reviewed Rudolph of the Funko Vinyl Pop figures and today we check in with Kris Kringle himself. If you’ve been good this year, ol’ Saint Nick is likely on his way to you later tonight.

And if you’ve been bad… Well maybe you can just buy this Funko vinyl and hope for a better result next year!

The box is the same as the others in the series. It’s functional and it’s nice to seal these up if you want to store them for putting out next year. It’s also nice that all the Funk boxes in this series are similar, so you could display them that way should you choose.

The side has a little photo of the toy, so you could display the boxes by their sides as well.

There’s nothing spectacular about these boxes, but the window does help you check for defects and such.

Mine came with a little bonus. A dead bug. All the way from China! In the words of the immortal Ernest P. Worrell…

Santa Claus in general is a very generic design, so Funko really deserves credit for making this vinyl Pop figure actually LOOK like the Rankin-Bass Santa. No easy task, particularly in a stylized format.

Santa Claus looks great and has that Rankin-Bass charm. I would say this is one of the more fun Funko POP Vinyls have. It reminds me of some of those olf GIFs of Santa waving.

Mine has a little flashing on the face and the paint work is a tad sloppy, but overall I’m not too miffed with any of that. The fact that he resembles the Rankin-Bass Santa from various angles is what really seals the deal for me. I’m pleasantly surprised.

All in all, Santa is quite nice and would look great on any shelf. Perhaps the best part about this Santa is that although he does have the spirit of the Rankin-Bass design, he could fit into ANY Santa display. This Claus doesn’t have to just be for fans of the Rudolph Christmas special.

There is cut at the neck, but because of some sculpting issues it’s not functional. Santa’s beard and the way the hand is raised, you basically can’t move it at all. Not that it takes much away from this figure.

Does a dead bug count?

Depending on what price you pay for this guy, will determine your opinion. At $5, I love him. At $10 I think he’s still pretty good.

Score Recap:
Packaging – 8
Sculpting – 8
Paint – 8
Articulation – 0
Accessories – N/A
Value – 8
Overall – 8 out of 10

All in all, I’m digging this Santa. He’s cute and just perfect for a little Christmas cheer. I’m glad to have completed the set from last year… But now I have more to track down. If they keep releasing a few each year, this could become a real huge collection. Maybe I’ll just stick with these three.
