Oh man, all kinds of new Revoltech stuff is on the way. Last week I was able to preorder my Revoltech Gamera, Gyaos and Baragon and now new pictures are coming of some of the upcoming Revoltech figures. Revoltech is doing lots of cool lines like Batman, Predator, Alien, etc but I’m most excited about these guys…

Yes, that’s a Revoltech Anguirus. He already looks so awesome. You just know he’s gonna rock the party hard and I’m already getting my preorders ready. (Don’t worry he’s not actually up for preorder yet.)

Then we got our first shot of a painted Baragon. I’m glad I ordered this guy. He was always an underrated Kaiju, although it appears he’s the GMK version. Nothing wrong with that though.

Here’s Mothra. I’m not sure if he’s actually a Revoltech figure or an accessory. Either way, he looks pretty cool. Though I can’t imagine a Revoltech adding much to Mothra. He’s not exactly the kind of design that can benefit from a bunch of joints.

Vintage MOGUERA though? Now that’s an idea I can get behind. You know, MOGUERA didn’t become a Godzilla villain until the late 90’s, but I’ve always associated him as a Godzilla rival. He appeared in the original NES Godzilla game as a foe.

He’s modeled after his 50’s Mysterians role. No relation to the Mysterians who sang “96 Teardrops”, although the lead singer does claim to be an alien. Moguera looks pretty awesome and would look good fighting my Gamera.

Finally there are these accessories and I’m not sure who they come with. Look closely though and you’ll see there’s Sanda versus Gaira from War of the Gargantuas. They are both small, but those are definitely some figures I’d LOVE to see as Revoltech. Someday I’ll tell you about the mass hallucination my brother, my cousin and myself all had in relation to those guys. Oh and dig that Mazer! I’ll buy this for the mazer alone.

EDIT: It appears that the Mazer itself is a release. It’s not an accessory. That’s interesting. Also some folks would like me to mention that Mothra is generally considered female, but I’m still calling Mothra a he. There have been like 500 Mothras, some of them are dudes.

That’s a movie they should remake, War of the Gargantuas. If they would just drop that Frankenstein nonsense. Either way looks like some great Revoltechs are on the way. Keep bringing em’ on!

So wait, is there an official Revoltech Godzilla yet? And how big are these things?

  • Anatomies says:

The lack of Godzilla is getting odd.

Also… Mothra is a girl, friend.

  • That's up for debate, actually. That said, I'm more than willing to conceed that Mothra is more often than not considered female, but when looking at the news today I really didn't process one way or the other about Mothra's sex. I generally think of Mothra as the Macho Man to Godzilla's Hulk Hogan, so I went with he.

  • No Revoltech Godzilla. The plan, as best I can tell, is that Revoltech is releasing sort of a variety of different Kaiju, perhaps to build anticipation for a Godzilla. Godzilla is the easy property. I think they believe if they do some of these other properties first, they'll build an audience. Once it becomes about Godzilla, I think Godzilla sort of overshadows everything else. So that's why he's not coming yet. At least, that's my thought.

As none of these figures have been released yet, I can't say for sure what size they'll be. Revoltechs are usually around 5 inches, so the common belief is that these will be between 4-5 inches.

  • Anatomies says:

Not really up for debate. Always referred to as a female. Because she is a female.

  • Except for all the times that she's been referred to as a male. Which given the original dubbing has switched between films. Leo is considered a male, as is at least one of the original larvae in the 66 films is generally believed to be a male. Technically since Mothra appears to reproduce without a mate, Mothra is actually asexual. But don't let the facts get in a way of a good story.

  • Kumongaman says:

Gotta agree with Newton on this one. While Mothra is generally regarded as a female, do to changes in dubbing and unclear sexes of many of the variations of Mothra, it's not really wrong to refer to Mothra either way. Now if it was a million dollar question on a game show, I'd go with female, but in passing, yeah it could be either.

That's the classic Baragon from Frankenstein Conquers The World.

    Any info on the Anguirus?
