Just when you think you’ve seen all the Doctor Who figures that are on the way, more news surfaces. While the two versions of the 7th Doctor were common knowledge at this point, several new developments have arisen in the last couple of days. It looks like it’s going to be another busy summer of Doctor Who figure collecting.

It appears as though the Dalek and 7th Doctor set may include an alternate head, though I don’t know if that’s been confirmed. There appears to be a serious and a happy head, with the latter containing the Doctor’s infamous hat.

Once rumored to be a part of the 11 Doctors set, the “Unearthly Child” version of the 1st Doctor is now on it’s way and is scheduled to drop sometime in May. It appears as though this 1st Doctor will be a single figure release and run about $25.

Finally, a painted sample of the 8th Doctor from the TV Movie has surfaced. This version looks a little off in the eye area, but the rest of the sculpt looks pretty impressive. No official announcement on release for this figure yet.

I generally think all the sculpts look top notch, though the eyes on the 8th Doctor may need some touching up to be perfect. All in all it’s shaping up to be a very good and very expensive time to be a Doctor Who figure collector. Character Options has really done some nice work and I can only hope we continue to see more of there classic Doctor Who characters come to life.

Not too sound like a know-it-all again, really, but that's the First Doctor from "An Unearthly Child" which was the very first Doctor Who episode. "The Empty Child" aired in 2005 during the Ninth Doctor era. I can't believe we're getting a William Hartnell variant! Having a "serious" McCoy head for the Seventh Doctor is a must. And we're finally seeing love for Paul McGann's Eight Doctor. I wonder if the boxed set has been axed, though? In any case, it really is going to be an expensive year for Whovies everywhere but it should be well worth it!

It's not confirmed that the 7th Doctor will have swappable heads, both the pictures of the version with the Dalek and the Version with the Tardis show the "smiling" head, and the "grumpy" hatless version is supposedly going to be in the 11 Doctors set.

  • Indeed. Typo on my part. Scary that I was looking right at Unearthly Child and still ended up typing Empty Child. I blame the creepy little kid, he's still in my head, lol.

  • I'd still like to see the hat head in with the figures. Seems like that would make more sense than a complete repaint with the different head. The 11th Doctor's set should have a different outfit, IMO.

Oh my goodness, this is going to be an expensive year for fans of this line!

  • Hellbelly says:

Putting a completely new outfit on the 7th Dcotor in the 11 Doctors set would partially defeat the object. The 11 Doctors set will logically be made up of mostly repaints/kitbashes of previous figures. If they use any major new tooling, it will push up the cost of production.
That being said, I'd love to see the outfit from "Curse of Fenric" to go with the Classic Tardis.

  • Well they could just simply repaint him. I think there's going to have to be a fair amount of enticement in that 11 Doctors set.. Curse of Fenric would be a good one. I'm just surprised that we would have to buy a whole seperate figure just to get the new head. Not that it's impossible mind you, but I guess we'll see. Character Options has shown that they don't mind repacking figures time and time again.

Personally I'd love to see the 11 Doctor's set have the TV Movie version of the 7th. I think they could get by with just repainting the current sculpt, even if not an exact replica I think it could pass.

  • Without a doubt. I have the feeling there could be more surprises to come as well.

  • Exactly, I wouldn't think this would work but then again, repaints… meh.

I like the 7th Doctor with the Imperial Dalek better. Not a big fan of this Hartnell either. The McGann is a must though.

I know this makes me a great big f'n nerd, but The First Doctor gets the walking stick from Kubai Khan in Marco Polo, so it shouldn't technically be with the An Unearthly Child figure.
