Ninja Turtles Dogpound and Fishface

Back at Toy Fair 2012, there was a preview of some Ninja Turtles figures that weren’t released in the first wave. It included the two top hench mutants in the new Nickeloden cartoon, Dogpound and Fishface as well as a preview of Metalhead. At the time none of the three were final versions and their release date was unknown. Earlier this week, an avid TMNT fan over at the Tehcnodrome, Donatello19, spotted that they had been updated to “Coming Fall 2012” on the official Playmates website. I decided to reach out to my contacts at Playmates to see if this was true and if they were an official new wave or if they’d get mixed into the current case ratios.

The new figures will be mixed in with the other 9 figures and should be available on the website Fall of 2012.

I figured this was the case, but this confirms it. The figures will be added to the current case assortments and the series will be updated that way, just as the vintage figures were. Instead of doing a traditional “Wave 2”, these will be more like a Wave 1.5 type update. Be sure to check store shelves in the fall, probably around the time the new Nickelodeon cartoon debuts and of course, be sure to keep visiting Infinite Hollywood for reviews of all the TMNT toys!

That sounds like good news. I been digging your reviews of these guys so far.

Do your contacts at Playmates have any news on the future of the Retro-Classics line? Have the sales in the US impressed them to date? Or do we have to wait to see how they sell in the international markets in mid-2013 before we'll hear about a second series of Retro-Classics?

And speaking of the Retro-Classics, while I realise they all share a near identical sculpt, please keep the reviews coming for Leo, Raph and Don!

Can't wait for the Leatherhead figure.

  • Tommy says:

I can't wait for that Metalhead figure! I hope they end up doing Fugitoid and a Triceraton too.

  • jestergoblin says:

Metalhead is the one I'm most excited for, but Fishface looks to have some great potential.

  • I'm with Mark. Wonder how big Leatherhead will be? Taller and wider than the Shredder I hope. Doing a smaller scale, they can get away with doing larger figures.

  • Mark says:

Judging buy the design I'd say he will be bigger and wider. Love thi new line, can't wait to get some. 🙂

  • What they tell me is that they are selling quite well and they're doing their best to meet demand. That said, no word on international sales or if a second wave is in the works. Obviously it's probably too early to tell on most that stuff given that these aren't even officially in most stores yet. Early sales are good though, so that's a plus.

I do plan on reviewing more, been dragging my feet a bit. I do apologize for that. I have some more Nick Turtles to be reviewed this weekend, probably.

  • That's be great. I'm very curious to see if Fugitoid factors into the new show or not. He was always a Laird pet project but I wonder if the Nick people care about him as much.

  • Wait til you guys see my very rough custom Leatherhead, heh.

  • Nick says:

I didn't know these were at Target stores. I had only seen them at Toys R Us.
I found a TON of them at Target tonight and bought all the ones I needed to finish this wave.
Your reviews totally convinced me to bite the bullet on these figures and I'm so happy I did.

  • Hobgoblin238 says:

You do not need to do a custom Leatherhead. He is coming out soon. Already saw the concept drawings. Hey Infinite Hollywood. I just opened a new blog myself. Would love it if you would add me to your blogroll list. I have added you to mine. Thanks so much!

Just looked at the Toy Fair pics again and I'm afraid the upcoming figures are all going to be poorly articulated. I'd like to support the line past the four Turtles but they're making it pretty difficult.

  • I think Fishface is alright articuation wise and it's hard to tell what Metalhead will end up with. Dogpound sucks though.

–>> .. i'd totally kiss Fishface on the lips..
