It would appear that Mattel and Warner Brothers have come to a bad place in their agreement to make a He-Man movie. Mattel is notorious for being hard to work with, especially when it comes to Masters of the Universe. Was that the cause of the problem or was it that Mattel was just trying to protect their rights to the character?

Warner Bros. and Mattel have decided to let the option on Masters of the Universe lapse, putting a stop to the live-action film based on the Mattel toy line that producer Joel Silver has been developing since 2007.

Mattel will now try to set up the film elsewhere. Director John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) is expected to stay on as director, but Silver will no longer be involved as he is exclusive to Warner Bros.
