After a long time and many attempts to recreate it, the famous 64 shooter, GoldenEye will be returning on the Wii. To make this release a little more special, instead of going with the normal limited edition features that can’t be used with games, the Classic Edition of Goldeneye will feature the gold-colored Classic Controller Pro. This is similar to the special gold Nintendo 64 controller that came with some versions of the original release. It will retail for $59.

“In addition to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, GoldenEye will also support the Wii Zapper for ‘point and shoot’ gamers, giving players several ways to experience GoldenEye on Wii,” said Activision’s David Pokress. “We also couldn’t pass up the opportunity to pay homage to the golden gun with the gold Classic Controller Pro, which looks cool and also gives shooter fans a familiar control scheme to use as they blast their way through the game.”

I actually had Goldeneye and never played it much. I didn’t think it was that great of a game, but obviously I missed out. I wasn’t a fan of first person shooters back then. I also had the gold controller, but I bought that with my used N64, not because of Goldeneye. Still a pretty neat perk for this re-release.

I always thought that Goldeneye by itself wasn't that fun – it was when you had friends over playing the multiplayer mode that you couldn't put it down.

  • Yeah, I did that a few times but never got into it like others. I think we never focused on it much because we were far too caught up in WCW vs. NWO World Tour at the time. Now that was a fun 4 player game!
