It’s been a while since we’ve checked in with Ebay Bandits. What are Ebay Bandits? Well, they’re jerks on Ebay that are trying to rip people off. These guys are posting up stuff on Ebay and either mislead potential buyers or overcharge for something “rare” in order to play the system. To get into the spirit for today’s bandit, let’s sing a song…

Believe it or not,
I’m walking on air.
I never thought I could feel so free eee eee.
My figure’s on Ebay for an arm and a leg.
What could it be?
Believe it or not it’s just a repainted DCUC!

Seriously, check out this classic overpriced Ebay Bandit at work. This custom Greatest American Hero figure is on Ebay for over $5,000!

The scariest part is that it has a bid on it?! Customs can usually go into the low hundreds, but this one seems way overpriced. It’s not even that good. The auction description lists it as being made by “boskoes toys, a well reconized manufacturer” which sounds dubious at best. Reconized? Over at the Mego forums, my good buddy Palitoy (!) nailed it with his comment:

Who doesn’t remember Boskoes toys, I can still hear their jingle “hand made crap at ridiculous prices, it’s Bos-koes!”

Even sadder is the fact that just a week or two back there was a much rarer Greatest American Hero set on Ebay that went for a little over $350 with shipping.

That set included Ralph, Bill and the Convertible Bug! I can only assume that this is some sort of gag that I’m not in on. Who would list this for five grand? Who would consider paying that much for it? Is William Katt that vane? Does he even have that kind of money?

If you see unscrupulous action on Ebay, help me fight the Bandits and send in your own auctions of miscreants! I’m always on the lookout to help protect you.

If everyone that you claimed to be a Bandit was held accountable for every interpretation they gave… life would be pretty… well… boring. Yes years ago I made this… out of love for all things 80’s. Was its my best work?? no but you could get off your HIGH probably fake horse that you probably sable in your mom’s basement (if you are so lucky and put yourself out there!) besides I got less than 100 bucks for my “crappy art” (someone turned around and resold it), and I don’t make my own prices I usually just post stuff on ebay for $20.00. All that being said I’m just a single mom ho probably likes the same stuff as you.. trying to feed my family! so Bandit that!!!

I honestly can’t decipher a lot of what you said here, but apparently you think I live in my Mom’s basement? That’s a bit cliche. Then again, you claim to be a single mom ho, so maybe you’re just not good at flattery?

      In all seriousness, though…

The custom is pretty good. If you took the time to read the article, we weren’t bagging on the custom. But rather that someone was trying to sell it for $5,000. Which is ridiculous. Anyone selling any custom figure on Ebay for $5,000 is a bandit, no ifs, ands or buts.

And if you weren’t the one holding this auction, you offend too easy. Even if it was your original work being resold. If you got less than a $100, you should be upset that some joker tried to pawn this off on someone else for thousands. Me thinks thou doth protest too much.
