Two for one in a special Friday edition of Classic Comic Ads this week as Marvel invited you to join the “Dream Team” back in the early 1990’s. Spider-man has always been Marvel’s biggest star and it’s front and center here as even Wolverine is playing second fiddle to Spidey.

What’s really remarkable about this double page ad from LJN and Marvel is that it was during the rare period where Nintendo was supporting not one, not two, but three systems at once. It’s a pretty rare era as the NES was still getting brand new first run games, the SNES was the new kid on the block with tons of new games and the original Game Boy was kicking ass and taking names. All three had a unique Marvel Spider-man experiance at the time.

I love that the Game Gear gets a small blurb as well. Interestingly, the one Spider-man game not mentioned here was the Sega Genesis Spider-man game. In my mind, that’s still probably the best Spider-man game and certainly the star of the era… I mean come on, you fought a guy in a forklift!

What’s your favorite 8-bit or 16-bit era Spider-man game?

    From the era, but not necessarily on home consoles, my favorite was Sega's arcade Spidey game, Spider-Man the video game. Oh how I miss it, & in particular, that era of gaming.

    Ever play it?

    Oh man! You need to go download (or whatever people do today) this game & start playing it now. You will not regret it. Check it out;
