Atari was sort of the king of video game consoles in the 70’s and very early 80’s and the 2600 was a big hit until Nintendo came along. That played in well with comic books, which at the time were big selling points to a particular audience. The two were a perfect fit for one another. If you wanted to sell a video game, you advertised it in comic books.

Sadly this comic ad is much more exciting than playing Joust actually ever was. You don’t just play it… You live it? Who would want to live Joust? Not I. Of course Joust was a pretty fun game. Nowhere near as fun as this ad depicts though.

    Hah,I love these ads when they have art and actual product/screenshots interspersed.It's like those commercials where the game character jumps out of the TV either into a cartoon or hokey live actor,good times,good times.
