Realm Of The Underworld

Daniel Benedict, creator of a lot of popular Masters of the Universe fan films is nearly over the hump on his new Kickstarter project, a retro 80’s horror film called “The Bloody Man”. Based off a concept that Benedict created when he was a kid, The Bloody Man promises to be part Friday the 13th, part Fright Night, part Nightmare on Elm Street and all parts fun! To make the movie even more authentic, classic Nightmare actresses Tuesday Knight and Lisa Wilcox will be part of the film. Along with Mercedez Varble, Roni Jonah and the lovely Katy Cusick.

But perhaps the coolest part of the Bloody Man film is Zoloworld working with them to create an exclusive action figure that’s going to be a big part of the film. Barbarian Man, is quite similar to Krysis, Conan and of course He-Man and will factor into the film as the main hero’s favorite toy. What’s even cooler about this and a big reason why you should back the film, is that the Barbarian Man action figure will come to life and be available as an exclusive through this Kickstarter. Imagine not only seeing a toy in the film, but being able to buy it. It’s tons of old school fun.

The Kickstarter ends on Halloween night at midnight and they are only about $1,000 away from their goal. If you’re a fan of 80’s toys, 80’s horror and good ol’ fashioned fun, this is definitely one to back. It’s got great people involved, as Zoloworld has produced tons of figures in the past few years, so you know they will hold up their end (unlike so many Kickstarters that never end up producing figures) and Daniel Benedict has done some fantastic short films like “Fall of Grayskull” and “Bunni” and this looks like it’ll be a top notch labor of love by all involved.

So let’s make this happen! You can back it here: TheBloodyMan.com

ROTU Slimed Drones
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of the Zoloworld Realm of the Underworld toy line. In fact, I would guess that I probably have one of the largest collections of ROTU in existence. But with the Halloween season upon us, I wanted to point out some of the awesomeness of the new Slimed Drones Realm of the Underworld wave. The figures are technically wave 2.5 in the overall ROTU toy line, but for all intents and purposes this is a special subwave of “slime” figures. Which means lots and lots of translucent versions of your favorite Underworld characters, along with a few new figures as well.

Slimed
I intend to review the entire series in the weeks ahead (along with a ton of 5.75 content) but for now, my focus is purely on the Halloween aspect of these new figures. They’re pretty much the PERFECT Halloween toys! I remember as a kid looking for particularly scary toys to play with around Halloween, and there were plenty of old standbys, Skeletor, Scare-Glow, Burnheart from Super Naturals and the like… But ROTU Slime Drones would have been a wet dream back then.

Just take a look at these guys, they’re downright awesome. Featuring bright Halloween colors (shame there’s no orange one!) and tons of gruesome sculpts, these guys are wicked cool. Those translucent colors practically make them look like candy! Let’s take a closer look at these sick and twisted totally Halloween, non-Halloween toys!  Continue reading

ROTU Slime Drones

Here’s a special first look at the upcoming Slime Drone version of Kry-sis. These Realm of the Underworld Slime Drone figures should be up for pre-order soon, but I’m leaking this first look. I can’t wait to get my hands on these guys. ROTU is one of the most fun toy lines around today.

Realm of the Underworld Wave 2
Our buddies over at DoomKick have decided to have a Realm of the Underworld spectacular all this week, in celebration of Wave 2. I’ve been enjoying Wave 2 thus far (reviews coming here as well) but rather than step on their toes, I’m waiting a bit to post up my reviews. In the meantime, check out some highlights from our Realm of the Underworld Week back in April and then head over to DoomKick and check out their coverage of Wave 2!

Portal 2

Last week, the folks behind Realm of the Underworld unveiled their first ever mini comic titled, The Sword of Heroes. The comic is a lot of fun, but it got me interested in recreating the story using the ROTU figures. So I messed around with this and decided to remake the mini comic. I didn’t change any text from the original, only omitting a few lines which indicated dialogue. I was able to turn it into a 25 page comic book. I think it’s pretty cool, but let me know what you think!
