Remember when I wrote about Cirque du Soleil before? Well Banana Shpeel is coming your way later this month and looks more interesting than before. Apparently it’s more than just vaudeville and it’s getting some great buzz throughout the scene. I’ve mostly seen Cirque du Soleil on television but they’re slowly growing to encompass all forms of media.

This show looks very interesting because it’s such a mix of zany comedy, flamboyant acrobatics and variety. It seems as though there has never been a show quite like this one. Thee Chicago Tribune said it was a “hard-edged vaudeville show, with slapstick in the style of the Three Stooges or Marx Brothers,” which makes me ever the more interested.

One of the things this show is trying to do is get away from too much traditional Broadway musical style stuff and up the ante a bit with some of the “wow” factor. Apparently they removed some early performers to focus more in on the Vaudeville style portions of the show. One can imagine this will greatly increase the broad appeal that Cirque du Soleil can tap into. Banana Shpeel looks to be something definitely more than just an ordinary night at the theater.

If you’re going to be in the area and are looking to enjoy a Broadway style show with so much more in the Chicagoland area, I encourage you to check out and learn more about the Cirque du Soleil Banana Shpeel show heading your way!
