Yes Mego Month hasn’t exactly been a rousing success here at Infinite Hollywood, but we do have some breaking “Mego” news. 3A Toys, who’ve made some really cool toys through the years have just announced 3AGO!

3A Mego

What is 3AGO? Well it’s 3A’s version of 8 inch Mego figures. We don’t know what they’ll look like or what kind of articulation or design they’ll have. As is the norm with 3A, we may not know exactly what these figures are like until they’re shipped… But Ashley Wood has said he’s a big Mego fan and still collects them to this day.

If previous 3A products are any indication, they’re liable to be wild and perverse and unlike anything else currently being done in the Mego 8 inch format. 3AGO will also likely be super articulated and much more revolutionary than some of the toys we’re currently seeing in the land of Mego-like toys.

Thus far they’ve only unveiled the logo, but if you collect 3A figures, you know that they’re always top quality and not really conventional. We’ve reviewed some 3A stuff here at Infinite Hollywood (and I’ve got a backlog of other 3A stuff to review) but if you’re interested in seeing what they can do check out these reviews:

Blogger League
It’s been a hectic week for me (heck a pretty crazy month) but I’m finally getting in another post in the League of Extraordinary Bloggers! This week’s topic of discussion?

In the spirit of Young Indiana Jones, Young Frankenstein, or Young Einstein, come up with a “Young ___” prequel or series…

It seems like a lot of people are struggling with this one, but I think I got a pretty good idea of a “Young” concept that would work. The Young Toxic Avenger! Everyone’s favorite New Jersey superhero but as a kid! Young Toxie is a per-pubescent hideously deformed creature of super human size and strength!

Young Toxic Avenger

I realize of course, it doesn’t really make sense for the Toxic Avenger to be a kid. We already know that as a boy Melvin Ferd was a big nerd. But these “young” concepts often abandon the known canon for something that works for children anyway. This would allow Toxie to deal with school bullies and play more into the theme of the first film. Plus Troma is supposedly going to have Toxic Twins (young Toxie kids) in the newest Toxic Avenger film, so it’s already a concept they’re interested in doing.

Young Toxic Crusader

You could go two routes with this. Make a really disgusting Troma style film, or Troma could once again try to enter the kid’s market like they did with the Toxic Crusaders. If done in cartoon form, adding in young versions of NoZone and Sgt. Kabukiman would make for some classic hijinks and hilarity.

I’m not the only one making classic icons into kids, over at Cool and Collected is checking out Young Clark W. Griswald, while Good Will Hunting 4 Geeks is taking Monsters versus Aliens and making them pre-teens. Finally SpaceManStar is turning everyone’s favorite cartoon video game babe Lara Croft into jail bait!

There’s so much science and technology information constantly popping up on the web that it’s hard to keep track of it all. For good reason too, because that’s one set of fields that are always in a state of flux through development and engineering. Thankfully, one website has been able to keep you up to date on those technological changes since 1998 and that’s Geek Alerts!

Not only do they keep you in the loop with all the important changes and new technology that’s out there, but they do it with style. Plus they recently started listing online coupons and discount promo codes for all the stuff you love. They’ve got tons of coupons for important science stuff and geek gadgets, but also practical coupons that anyone can use. Need to save a few bucks on flowers for Mom’s birthday? Check out their ProFlowers coupon code!

Seriously, this is how full of depth the website is. They have just about everything and anything you can imagine. Late breaking tech news and top of the line coupon codes and special deals. In this economy, we’re all looking to save some extra dough where we can and this is the website that very well could help you save some serious money.

Mego Aquaman Shark Ad

Today’s Classic Comic Ad ties into Mego Month which is painfully chugging along. I have a soft spot for the Mego Aquaman (and Aquaman in general) so this classic ad from the old Heroes World catalog, makes for an awesomely aquatic one-two punch. What makes this interesting is that it’s for the famed Aquaman versus the Great White Shark set. Even though Aquaman can control sea creatures, somehow his battle with a big shark, is a natural fit. It certainly didn’t hurt that this came out around the time that Jaws was insanely popular.

GI Joe Comic Ad

The art is used in the ad is actually “reproduction art” which was pretty common in the old days of printing. They were typically done for cheap newspapers and black and white circulars. It’s interesting that this version is colored and you can see that the original photo was redrawn by hand in the sample below, which I dug up on the Mego Museum. It’s always fun to see Aquaman and while many lament this set as sort of lame and it wasn’t apparently the biggest seller for Mego… It’s become one of the more valuable Mego pieces these days. Those darn sharks are hard to track down!
