TNA Wrestling News
Be on the lookout for some ridiculous DC retconning in the very near future as DC Comics and Warner Brothers have lost some key assests of Superman's backstory. It seems that the family of Siegel who helped created Superman continues to fight DC over the character and has won another battle.
The family of Superman creator Jerry Siegel won the latest round of court battles against Warner Bros. over the Superman rights. The family has now recaptured rights to many Superman properties including early comic strips that show his backstory. This, of course, means that the family now controls the depictions of many key Superman elements such as his parents, the destruction of Krypton, Kal-El crash landing on earth, etc. So if Warner Bros. wants to reboot the movie franchise and include those elements, they would have to get permission from the Siegel family.
Warner Bros. and DC Comics will have to start production on a new Superman movie by 2011, or all the remaining rights will pass over to the Siegel family and co-creator Joel Schuster.

I hope another Superman movie does go into production. I actually liked Superman Returns, well at least until Superbaby showed up. Still DC and WB better get their heads on straight. You know they lost the rights to Superboy a few years back and it totally bogged down their comics. I think they have his rights back?
Makes you wonder why DC didn't just pony up some money. At the end of the day it's all about cash and DC probably should just give the Siegel family whatever money they need. Poor Siegel and Shuster practically died poor. DC paid them some ridiculous lifetime pension of $20,000 a year. Really? For creating the most iconic superhero of all time?
I'm torn because I think the family deserves some of this stuff, but I also know it'll end up hurting DC's comic and movie properties. At least this rules out another origin move, right?
